Narrative:

Departed ffo day VFR. Excellent conditions except for wind (10-15g10-20). After practicing ground reference maneuvers, PIC climbed to 300' and proceeded to sgh for multiple touch and go's. Contacted tower 10 mi out. Told to expect left base for runway 24. 3 mi out (descended to pattern altitude, 2000'), sgh tower directed turn for left base for 24, check gear down and locked, cleared to land. Entered pattern left base. Turned final and landed for touch and go. Upon climb out, contacted tower and requested closed traffic, multiple touch and go's. Told to continue left traffic for 24. Sometime after the first and fifth (the last landing) touch and go, communication was lost. PIC was unaware of lost communication--was flying PIC from the right seat. Became distracted concentrating on the lndgs and continued around the pattern for a total of 5 touch and go's. Upon completing the fifth landing, PIC recognized problem existed. Went to communication 2 and contacted tower. Informed them I was departing the area. Tower asked for home base, etc, and handed me off to destination tower. PIC had recently regained medical after 5 months of no flying, 250 hour commercial/INS/sel less than 6 hours last 6 months, flying PIC from right seat (CFI familiarization), concentrating on lndgs. Awareness of tower communications suffered--didn't know (forgot/assumed blanket clearance given) separate clearance required for each landing. Blissfully unaware of lost communication.

Title: SMA PRACTICING TOUCH AND GO'S LOSES COM WITH TWR AFTER FIRST LNDG, BUT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE LOSS OF COM.

Narrative: DEPARTED FFO DAY VFR. EXCELLENT CONDITIONS EXCEPT FOR WIND (10-15G10-20). AFTER PRACTICING GND REF MANEUVERS, PIC CLBED TO 300' AND PROCEEDED TO SGH FOR MULTIPLE TOUCH AND GO'S. CONTACTED TWR 10 MI OUT. TOLD TO EXPECT LEFT BASE FOR RWY 24. 3 MI OUT (DSNDED TO PATTERN ALT, 2000'), SGH TWR DIRECTED TURN FOR LEFT BASE FOR 24, CHK GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED, CLRED TO LAND. ENTERED PATTERN LEFT BASE. TURNED FINAL AND LANDED FOR TOUCH AND GO. UPON CLBOUT, CONTACTED TWR AND REQUESTED CLOSED TFC, MULTIPLE TOUCH AND GO'S. TOLD TO CONTINUE LEFT TFC FOR 24. SOMETIME AFTER THE FIRST AND FIFTH (THE LAST LNDG) TOUCH AND GO, COM WAS LOST. PIC WAS UNAWARE OF LOST COM--WAS FLYING PIC FROM THE RIGHT SEAT. BECAME DISTRACTED CONCENTRATING ON THE LNDGS AND CONTINUED AROUND THE PATTERN FOR A TOTAL OF 5 TOUCH AND GO'S. UPON COMPLETING THE FIFTH LNDG, PIC RECOGNIZED PROB EXISTED. WENT TO COM 2 AND CONTACTED TWR. INFORMED THEM I WAS DEPARTING THE AREA. TWR ASKED FOR HOME BASE, ETC, AND HANDED ME OFF TO DEST TWR. PIC HAD RECENTLY REGAINED MEDICAL AFTER 5 MONTHS OF NO FLYING, 250 HR COMMERCIAL/INS/SEL LESS THAN 6 HRS LAST 6 MONTHS, FLYING PIC FROM RIGHT SEAT (CFI FAMILIARIZATION), CONCENTRATING ON LNDGS. AWARENESS OF TWR COMS SUFFERED--DIDN'T KNOW (FORGOT/ASSUMED BLANKET CLRNC GIVEN) SEPARATE CLRNC REQUIRED FOR EACH LNDG. BLISSFULLY UNAWARE OF LOST COM.
