Narrative:

Shortly after takeoff, F/a (seated on aft jumpseat) reported a scraping noise on takeoff. A level off at an intermediate altitude was initiated and a pilot was sent back to view the aft airstair area. A gap between the airstair and stairwell was observed. After conferring with company maintenance and a dead heading line check captain onboard, crew elected to execute a precautionary landing at mco. Fuel dumping was initiated to get down to landing weight. An uneventful landing followed. Upon lowering aft airstair, a 4-5' strip of wxstripping was missing. Maintenance was completed and flight continued.
