Narrative:

Was told to hold short of runway 6-24, but was not sure that was the instructions given by the tower. The movement area was snow-covered and not plowed. It might have been impossible to stop before crossing 6-24 because of the 3' of snow on the taxiway. But, what it boiled down to was a miscom between the crew members themselves and the control tower. (If unsure which runway we should hold short of, we should have asked the tower again. And if we were unable to stop because of snow or ice, we should notify the tower of that before crossing.)
