Narrative:

Our flight taxied away from the gate and ground told us to taxi out on 'oscar' to our departure runway. The WX was 600, 600, 600 RVR in dense fog. The ramp area to the taxiway was, in my estimation, zero in fog. We taxied very slowly, and evidently missed, just barely 'oscar'. We turned around and headed back to the ramp when an large transport emerged out of the fog. No incident occurred. The large transport was able to make a 180 degree turn (we could not) and let us by. Ground control was made aware of the situation all along. We finally made it to oscar and the runway. While we felt bad about missing the taxiway and slowing down the operation, the terrible lack of proper signage, I feel contributed to this. We found no signs as we left the gate/ramp area. This situation must be addressed.
