Narrative:

After leveling off at 11500' on a VFR flight plan, heading 035 degree (abe- baf). Abe TRACON told us to squawk 1200, and were unable to hand us off to ny center for flight following. We asked for a ny frequency and were advised a frequency. After contacting ny, they advised we were on the wrong frequency and gave us another frequency. After turning to the new frequency, before we contacted ny, we heard a pilot say 'we are going to level off here, we have an small transport about 500' below us.' center said 'I'm not talking to him.' I turn my head to look at my 7 O'clock and saw an medium large transport approximately 500' above me passing overhead. Then the pilot and center exchanged ny center phone numbers. When we finally talked to center, they gave us a squawk and nothing was said about the medium large transport which just missed overhead.

Title: SMT VFR HAD NMAC WITH ACR MLG AT 11500' MSL. JET IN DESCENT WAS OVERTAKING THE SMT.

Narrative: AFTER LEVELING OFF AT 11500' ON A VFR FLT PLAN, HDG 035 DEG (ABE- BAF). ABE TRACON TOLD US TO SQUAWK 1200, AND WERE UNABLE TO HAND US OFF TO NY CTR FOR FLT FOLLOWING. WE ASKED FOR A NY FREQ AND WERE ADVISED A FREQ. AFTER CONTACTING NY, THEY ADVISED WE WERE ON THE WRONG FREQ AND GAVE US ANOTHER FREQ. AFTER TURNING TO THE NEW FREQ, BEFORE WE CONTACTED NY, WE HEARD A PLT SAY 'WE ARE GOING TO LEVEL OFF HERE, WE HAVE AN SMT ABOUT 500' BELOW US.' CTR SAID 'I'M NOT TALKING TO HIM.' I TURN MY HEAD TO LOOK AT MY 7 O'CLOCK AND SAW AN MLG APPROX 500' ABOVE ME PASSING OVERHEAD. THEN THE PLT AND CTR EXCHANGED NY CTR PHONE NUMBERS. WHEN WE FINALLY TALKED TO CTR, THEY GAVE US A SQUAWK AND NOTHING WAS SAID ABOUT THE MLG WHICH JUST MISSED OVERHEAD.
