Narrative:

While on a practice VOR approach, I did not have visibility contact with runway at MDA. Instead of executing proper missed approach, I used the IFR departure procedure for that airport. I do not know why I certainly knew better. I was tired, returned late at night from previous day's flight and arose early for this practice flight. My approach plate briefing was interrupted. Somehow my mind 'short-circuited' to the IFR departure procedure.
