Narrative:

Den tower gave us a low altitude warning while making a visibility approach to runway 26R. Altitude was low because letdown was being made to an area off the airport that had been misidented as the runway. Problem arose by feeling pressure to identify the runway too early in poor visibility (4 mi in haze). Other contributing factors were an early get up on the east coast for west coast pilot, a long 6 1/2 hour flight (delayed 2 hours on ground after leaving gate). I know better than to start letting down unless there is no question about runway identify, but I guess fatigue set in and I let my guard down.
