Narrative:

While in cruise; I noticed that a very small piece of paper was sticking out of the parking brake indication switch. I pulled the switch out to find that it was being held by multiple ripped pieces of paper. I removed the papers and placed the switch back in the slot. Wrote up the now inoperative switch in the maintenance log and advised maintenance in ZZZ of my findings. This; unfortunately; has been a common practice when these types of switches go inoperative. This constitutes a risk to safety due to the fact that you are placing shreds of papers (combustible) close to an electrical connector.

Narrative: While in cruise; I noticed that a very small piece of paper was sticking out of the Parking Brake Indication Switch. I pulled the switch out to find that it was being held by multiple ripped pieces of paper. I removed the papers and placed the switch back in the slot. Wrote up the now INOP switch in the maintenance log and advised maintenance in ZZZ of my findings. This; unfortunately; has been a common practice when these types of switches go INOP.
