Narrative:

About 15 minutes after takeoff; we received a dispatch message stating there was an aircraft battery loaded in the aft cargo bay in spot D1; and the ground agent forgot to get the captain signature on the hazmat paperwork. ZZZ ground agent was faxing the paperwork to ZZZ1 and requested the captain sign the paperwork on landing. Captain had a conversation with chief pilot and decided not to sign the paperwork after the fact. There was no notification of the battery; either verbal or written; to any member of the crew while on the ground at ZZZ.
