Narrative:

Near midair collision: takeoff 36L at hsv. After rotation loud air leak from first officer's clear view window which distracted crew. At same time were switching to departure control. Aircraft weight required maximum takeoff power and had a high climb rate (3000-4000 FPM). Departure said level at 3000' for traffic. At the same time crew saw an small aircraft single engine on a collision path slightly high and left. We were already passing through approximately 2700' MSL. Had to pull power, bank left and push nose over. Estimated horizontal distance less than 500' and vertical less than 200'.
