During the descent into ZZZ; a very strong smell of cooked chicken could be smelled in both the passenger cabin and the cockpit. We donned our oxygen masks. I transferred control of the aircraft over to the first officer [first officer]. [Notified ATC]. Performed QRH procedure. First officer performed a visual approach (backed up by the RNAV 31). We taxied to the gate. Met with the ZZZ fire chief. Met with mechanics. Filed fumes report on ipad. Contacted dispatch also. Made appropriate aml [aircraft maintenance log] entry.
