Narrative:

I was coming back from the third leg of my solo cross-country. I was in the left traffic pattern. All the way down on final I was correcting for the crosswind to land straight in. However; once I landed there was a sudden strong gust and the airplane started turning to the left and I could not correct without upsetting the airplane. I ran into the grass on the left side of the runway near a taxiway and shut down the engine. I informed the tower and they sent out help. Flaps were set at 20 degrees for the approach to maintain better roll control.
