Narrative:

Aircraft X called for taxi; but I must have heard aircraft Y. I gave taxi instructions to aircraft Y and did not hear the readback differently and was not corrected by the pilot. I continued to work traffic and when I went back to give the aircraft sequence instructions and switch him to tower; I realized that he was definitely not an A319. I then asked him to verify his callsign and found out that it was actually aircraft X; an A321 that I had been giving instructions to. Please advise [airline] that flight wxyz and wyxz should not be proposed for departure anywhere near the same timeframe at the same airport.
