Amber fuel filter bypass left cas message in cruise at 40;000 feet. Ran QRH and contacted dispatch with divert airport choice off our left at 100 miles. Received re-release from dispatcher; advised ATC and proceeded to [alternate] for an uneventful landing. I advised [maintenance] of possible fuel contamination.
