Narrative:

Enclosed are several problem areas I found on plates. Hornet one departure (vector) SID out of clt. I hear some one on the radio squawking about some misunderstanding or another with ATC. So this is a gripe by a 'casual user', line pilot. Who sees a problem. 250 KT speed restriction is buried in small print. It should be in great big letters with a box around it. The vector names' are the same as the missed approach procedure/fix and are set up for a gotcha! Ie, look at 'stann' on the SID and 'stann' on the approach, missed approach. It is the stann vector which is the 347 right off the clt (115.0) VOR and the picture on the plate 11-1A, clt ILS runway 36L and the missed approach procedure...proceed to the stann (fix) on the 247 right off of ft mill (112.4) for 29.5 DME. Well, if you've just flown a CAT ii/III approach into clt you're going to know the stann thing (or so you think) since you reviewed it when you reviewed the map procedure for the ILS. Which is proceed to the stann (fix) on the 347 right off of ft mill (112.4) for 29.5 DME. Now if you've done a CAT ii/III everything is late and all rushed ATC at the gate. You're going to study the small print to break out the fact that stann (347 right) should be off of 115.0 clt not 112.4 fml, and is a heading, not the 347/29.5? This is a gotcha built into the SID. It got me. Summary; this is a cheap SID and should be rebuilt.
