Narrative:
While on a VFR flight down the chesapeake bay the aircraft and pilot noted on this report inadvertently flew too far to the east and entered controled airspace west/O a clearance (baltimore washington arsa). When this was realized I turned to a seasterly heading and entered a portion of the washington TCA. This too was realized and I exited the same to the east notifying patuxent approach of my location, requesting a verification of my location. Patuxent approach did so and notified me that I had entered the washington TCA. Apparently the ATC facility was aware of the same. At no time did I see any other aircraft that could have been considered a conflict. I was not familiar with the area in which I was flying and I was also spending a lot of time with my head 'out of the cockpit' not paying a lot of attention to the chart. In the future I will certainly be more aware of my location at all times by carefully monitoring my position on the sectional chart. There is no question that because of this incident I will review and upgrade my skills related to dead reckoning and VOR navigation.

Title: SMA PLT ENTERS ARSA WITHOUT CLRNC. WHILE TURNING TO AVOID, ENTERS TCA WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: WHILE ON A VFR FLT DOWN THE CHESAPEAKE BAY THE ACFT AND PLT NOTED ON THIS RPT INADVERTENTLY FLEW TOO FAR TO THE E AND ENTERED CTLED AIRSPACE W/O A CLRNC (BALTIMORE WASHINGTON ARSA). WHEN THIS WAS REALIZED I TURNED TO A SEASTERLY HDG AND ENTERED A PORTION OF THE WASHINGTON TCA. THIS TOO WAS REALIZED AND I EXITED THE SAME TO THE E NOTIFYING PATUXENT APCH OF MY LOCATION, REQUESTING A VERIFICATION OF MY LOCATION. PATUXENT APCH DID SO AND NOTIFIED ME THAT I HAD ENTERED THE WASHINGTON TCA. APPARENTLY THE ATC FAC WAS AWARE OF THE SAME. AT NO TIME DID I SEE ANY OTHER ACFT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED A CONFLICT. I WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE AREA IN WHICH I WAS FLYING AND I WAS ALSO SPENDING A LOT OF TIME WITH MY HEAD 'OUT OF THE COCKPIT' NOT PAYING A LOT OF ATTN TO THE CHART. IN THE FUTURE I WILL CERTAINLY BE MORE AWARE OF MY LOCATION AT ALL TIMES BY CAREFULLY MONITORING MY POS ON THE SECTIONAL CHART. THERE IS NO QUESTION THAT BECAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT I WILL REVIEW AND UPGRADE MY SKILLS RELATED TO DEAD RECKONING AND VOR NAVIGATION.
