Narrative:

After brief ground delay, tower said we were #3, and to start engines. We had to wait for a string of arrs, then were cleared to 'position and hold, be ready to go.' (landing traffic interval was tight). We were then 'cleared for takeoff turn right, 050 degree.' turn was about to be initiated when we spotted a light plane which apparently had just completed takeoff, touch and go or missed approach off runway 1R. We delayed the turn until well clear of the other plane and continued the departure, (note: do not consider this a near miss, but it could easily have been that, or worse). Turn initiated at about 1500' MSL. Why it happened. We were a little rushed. The tower made no mention of the other plane. We were inclined to turn immediately after takeoff because the tower had just said 'turn right, 050 degree', despite the fact that the brew 3 SID says to maintain runway heading until 2000'. Conclusions. Tower should have pointed out the potential conflict. We should have complied with the SID (of course), but took our cue from the most recent information/directions (turn right, 050 degree) instead. Recommendations. Takeoff clrncs certainly should point out traffic as close as this. Takeoff clrncs should either say just 'cleared for takeoff' or, if other directions are included (turn right, 050 degree), they should remind of other restrictions (reaching 2000' turn right 050 degree).

Title: ACR LGT STARTED TO TURN TO ASSIGNED HEADING BEFORE CLIMBING TO 2000' AS SPECIFIED IN THE SID. TURN WAS STOPPED WHEN AN SMA WAS SIGHTED FLYING A PATTERN FROM THE PARALLEL RWY.

Narrative: AFTER BRIEF GND DELAY, TWR SAID WE WERE #3, AND TO START ENGS. WE HAD TO WAIT FOR A STRING OF ARRS, THEN WERE CLRED TO 'POS AND HOLD, BE READY TO GO.' (LNDG TFC INTERVAL WAS TIGHT). WE WERE THEN 'CLRED FOR TKOF TURN R, 050 DEG.' TURN WAS ABOUT TO BE INITIATED WHEN WE SPOTTED A LIGHT PLANE WHICH APPARENTLY HAD JUST COMPLETED TKOF, TOUCH AND GO OR MISSED APCH OFF RWY 1R. WE DELAYED THE TURN UNTIL WELL CLR OF THE OTHER PLANE AND CONTINUED THE DEP, (NOTE: DO NOT CONSIDER THIS A NEAR MISS, BUT IT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN THAT, OR WORSE). TURN INITIATED AT ABOUT 1500' MSL. WHY IT HAPPENED. WE WERE A LITTLE RUSHED. THE TWR MADE NO MENTION OF THE OTHER PLANE. WE WERE INCLINED TO TURN IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF BECAUSE THE TWR HAD JUST SAID 'TURN R, 050 DEG', DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE BREW 3 SID SAYS TO MAINTAIN RWY HDG UNTIL 2000'. CONCLUSIONS. TWR SHOULD HAVE POINTED OUT THE POTENTIAL CONFLICT. WE SHOULD HAVE COMPLIED WITH THE SID (OF COURSE), BUT TOOK OUR CUE FROM THE MOST RECENT INFO/DIRECTIONS (TURN R, 050 DEG) INSTEAD. RECOMMENDATIONS. TKOF CLRNCS CERTAINLY SHOULD POINT OUT TFC AS CLOSE AS THIS. TKOF CLRNCS SHOULD EITHER SAY JUST 'CLRED FOR TKOF' OR, IF OTHER DIRECTIONS ARE INCLUDED (TURN R, 050 DEG), THEY SHOULD REMIND OF OTHER RESTRICTIONS (REACHING 2000' TURN R 050 DEG).
