Narrative:

While coming into pit from mgw, we were given a descent from 6000' to 4000' on a 360 degree heading. While level at 4000' an aircraft (an small transport Y) passed from right to left at an altitude that appeared to be 200' vertical sep and less than 1/4 mi. No evasive action required. The controller (approach) took full responsibility and requested a phone call. He (the controller) noted that he had erred and was ready for disciplinary action, not required as far as we were concerned.
