Narrative:

Departing orange county airport, I was cleared to taxi to runway 19R at kilo intersection via alpha, to hold short of runway 19L. About 2 hours previous, I taxied out with an IFR instructor for a training flight, and was advised to 'jog' over 'here' to get to kilo, (as air carrier traffic blocks taxiway lima and kilo). Having been in and out of orange county numerous times, I thought I was familiar enough to taxi west/O ground control assistance. (Frequency is very busy). However, with the new ramp and terminal construction changing the taxiway confign and perspectives, familiarity was destroyed. On top of the above, he latest available airport charts show the txwys like they used to be so that was no help. Also, identify of taxiway alpha is difficult to verify when you are on the taxiway and I didn't see any identify of the jog in the taxiway, but I'm sure it has a yellow line. Maybe the diagram will be worth many words. I could see anywhere ahead a place to jog over so concluded I had reached the last place to jog over. I am not sure what the taxiway confign is, but suspect they should identify taxiway 'a' as outer, and 'aa' as inner.

Title: AIR TAXI ACFT CONFUSED DUE TO RAMP CONSTRUCTION, TAXIS ONTO ACTIVE RWY.

Narrative: DEPARTING ORANGE COUNTY ARPT, I WAS CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 19R AT KILO INTXN VIA ALPHA, TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 19L. ABOUT 2 HRS PREVIOUS, I TAXIED OUT WITH AN IFR INSTRUCTOR FOR A TRNING FLT, AND WAS ADVISED TO 'JOG' OVER 'HERE' TO GET TO KILO, (AS AIR CARRIER TFC BLOCKS TXWY LIMA AND KILO). HAVING BEEN IN AND OUT OF ORANGE COUNTY NUMEROUS TIMES, I THOUGHT I WAS FAMILIAR ENOUGH TO TAXI W/O GND CTL ASSISTANCE. (FREQ IS VERY BUSY). HOWEVER, WITH THE NEW RAMP AND TERMINAL CONSTRUCTION CHANGING THE TXWY CONFIGN AND PERSPECTIVES, FAMILIARITY WAS DESTROYED. ON TOP OF THE ABOVE, HE LATEST AVAILABLE ARPT CHARTS SHOW THE TXWYS LIKE THEY USED TO BE SO THAT WAS NO HELP. ALSO, IDENT OF TXWY ALPHA IS DIFFICULT TO VERIFY WHEN YOU ARE ON THE TXWY AND I DIDN'T SEE ANY IDENT OF THE JOG IN THE TXWY, BUT I'M SURE IT HAS A YELLOW LINE. MAYBE THE DIAGRAM WILL BE WORTH MANY WORDS. I COULD SEE ANYWHERE AHEAD A PLACE TO JOG OVER SO CONCLUDED I HAD REACHED THE LAST PLACE TO JOG OVER. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE TXWY CONFIGN IS, BUT SUSPECT THEY SHOULD IDENT TXWY 'A' AS OUTER, AND 'AA' AS INNER.
