Narrative:

En route to gso from atl, ZTL cleared us to descend from FL240 to 11000'. ZTL vectored us left of course and we advised them of WX in that direction. ZTL then cleared us to deviate right of course and proceed direct to gso when able. We were then handed off to gso approach. Gso approach descended us to 7000' and asked if we were proceeding direct to gso. We said no. Our clearance from ZTL was direct gso when able. Gso approach told us to expedite through 10000' for traffic at that altitude. We expedited through 10000' and visually acquired the traffic. Gso approach was not aware of our previous clearance to deviate by ZTL. No evasive action was required.
