Narrative:

I was flying my small aircraft VFR canabassett valley direct to auburn, nh, (private ship where I am based at). I had a complete electrical failure. Visibility was unrestricted and no clouds in the sky. I decided to land at mht due to the fact auburn is 2000' turf strip 1800' usable and had cones on 1/3 of the runway due to reseeding in progress. I decided to land at mht where there is more than enough runway and it was only 6 NM and has mechanics on the field. I flew a complete left hand traffic pattern and saw 2 aircraft in pattern. I was departing and I appeared to stay in the pattern. The tower did not give me any light signals. So I flew another pattern this time I flew right down the runway and I still did not get any lights from the tower. I even rocked my wings. The next go around I decided to land because I started to think a: the tower wasn't looking, B: the lights in tower were out of service, C: I was concerned on how much fuel supply I really did have and what else was going to quit on me. So I proceeded to land, taxied off the runway, stopped looked for tower lights or taxiing traffic and xed over to the FBO. As I got out of my small aircraft an FAA safety inspector presents his card to me and asks me if I was aware of the fact I just violated a law and why did I do it? After I explained my problem he said he was just checking to see if it had been an operational error or not because he had been in the tower talking to controllers when I was in the pattern. He pointed at an aircraft doing touch and gos and stated that the tower was unaware of my presence as the touch and go aircraft looked like mine from the tower. He said they (controllers) didn't know I was there until the other aircraft reported downwind position as I was landing. There was only us 2 aircraft in the pattern at that time. FAA inspector then requested I send him a copy of my III class medical and the log indorsement of repairs done to fix the problem.

Title: SMA PLT HAS COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. LANDS AT TWR CTLED FIELD WITHOUT CLRNC AFTER ATTEMPTING TO GET TWR ATTENTION AND A LIGHT SIGNAL.

Narrative: I WAS FLYING MY SMA VFR CANABASSETT VALLEY DIRECT TO AUBURN, NH, (PVT SHIP WHERE I AM BASED AT). I HAD A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. VISIBILITY WAS UNRESTRICTED AND NO CLOUDS IN THE SKY. I DECIDED TO LAND AT MHT DUE TO THE FACT AUBURN IS 2000' TURF STRIP 1800' USABLE AND HAD CONES ON 1/3 OF THE RWY DUE TO RESEEDING IN PROGRESS. I DECIDED TO LAND AT MHT WHERE THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH RWY AND IT WAS ONLY 6 NM AND HAS MECHS ON THE FIELD. I FLEW A COMPLETE L HAND TFC PATTERN AND SAW 2 ACFT IN PATTERN. I WAS DEPARTING AND I APPEARED TO STAY IN THE PATTERN. THE TWR DID NOT GIVE ME ANY LIGHT SIGNALS. SO I FLEW ANOTHER PATTERN THIS TIME I FLEW RIGHT DOWN THE RWY AND I STILL DID NOT GET ANY LIGHTS FROM THE TWR. I EVEN ROCKED MY WINGS. THE NEXT GO AROUND I DECIDED TO LAND BECAUSE I STARTED TO THINK A: THE TWR WASN'T LOOKING, B: THE LIGHTS IN TWR WERE OUT OF SVC, C: I WAS CONCERNED ON HOW MUCH FUEL SUPPLY I REALLY DID HAVE AND WHAT ELSE WAS GOING TO QUIT ON ME. SO I PROCEEDED TO LAND, TAXIED OFF THE RWY, STOPPED LOOKED FOR TWR LIGHTS OR TAXIING TFC AND XED OVER TO THE FBO. AS I GOT OUT OF MY SMA AN FAA SAFETY INSPECTOR PRESENTS HIS CARD TO ME AND ASKS ME IF I WAS AWARE OF THE FACT I JUST VIOLATED A LAW AND WHY DID I DO IT? AFTER I EXPLAINED MY PROB HE SAID HE WAS JUST CHKING TO SEE IF IT HAD BEEN AN OPERATIONAL ERROR OR NOT BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN IN THE TWR TALKING TO CTLRS WHEN I WAS IN THE PATTERN. HE POINTED AT AN ACFT DOING TOUCH AND GOS AND STATED THAT THE TWR WAS UNAWARE OF MY PRESENCE AS THE TOUCH AND GO ACFT LOOKED LIKE MINE FROM THE TWR. HE SAID THEY (CTLRS) DIDN'T KNOW I WAS THERE UNTIL THE OTHER ACFT RPTED DOWNWIND POS AS I WAS LNDG. THERE WAS ONLY US 2 ACFT IN THE PATTERN AT THAT TIME. FAA INSPECTOR THEN REQUESTED I SEND HIM A COPY OF MY III CLASS MEDICAL AND THE LOG INDORSEMENT OF REPAIRS DONE TO FIX THE PROB.
