Narrative:

Quite simply put, I have never actually terminated an IFR flight at an uncontrolled field. Consequently, I forgot to close my flight plan. The mistake was mine. I have made approachs to uncontrolled fields but as I have said never terminated at one. I discovered my mistake when I called the aircraft owner the next day. He informed me that the police had shown up at the airport looking for the plane. He also told me that he had 'calmed down' the controller and to not contact him (the controller). The corrective action will be to never do it again.
