Narrative:

After we landed we taxied to the gate as instructed by ATC. When we pulled to the terminal area we could see that the plane next to us; an E145 was still in the de-boarding process. The E145 was parked [at] a non-jet bridge gate and we were to park next door on a jet bridge gate.we stopped and put the airplane in park on the extended gate centerline. Initially there were passengers in our sterile parking area standing waiting for their bags or further guidance as to where to proceed. There was also a passenger ramp connected to the E145 that protruded into the sterile area for our gate. We; the first officer (first officer) and I; knew we could not pull into the gate until all passengers were ushered out of the sterile area and the ramp was removed. There were no cones or barriers that would have prevented passengers from walking into our area. The marshallers then began to wave us in. We did not move.the lead marshaller became very animated; jumping up and down waving us in when the sterile area was clearly blocked by both passengers and the ramp. His behavior was so erratic that the passengers [on] the ramp stopped walking to watch the marshaller's behavior. While the passengers were walking inside and ramp was moved; the marshaller walked to the plane and mouthed obscenities at us while emphatically waving us into a non-cleared area. He was literally screaming and waving us into a sterile area where there was a mother holding an infant carrier and a ramp all in the sterile area.once the area was clear he began to wave us in only to drop his hands three times (causing us to stop three times as I didn't know if it was safe to proceed) and continue to mouth obscenities towards us. Once we parked he continued to mouth obscenities and attempted to intimidate my first officer on the walk around with aggressive body posture. This conduct was not only unsafe; it was non-compliant with our operations; [and] it was unprofessional in plain view of the public. Also his intimidating behavior once we parked was completely uncalled for; the area was full of passengers; and we couldn't park there.
