Narrative:

The aircraft was en route from Q68 to hwd via the manteca VORTAC cruising at 6500'. The navigation was primarily visibility direct as the WX was clear with good visibility. There was an air show in progress at the stockton airport at my time of passing and there was a temporary restr area posted for the stockton airport which is approximately 4 1/2 NM northwest of the eca VORTAC. I was unaware of this at the time and even remember seeing a couple of fgts in the area and wondered what that was all about. One of them came relatively close to the aircraft, but did not present any immediate danger. I checked the WX that day using duat, and also requested NOTAMS. I usually don't read these until I am at the airport, and simply rip the paper from the printer on my way out the door. The section of NOTAM that pertained to sck air show was at the pagebreak and remained on the printer (it's the last section to be print out). Upon landing at the hwd airport, I was requested to call the tower. I made the call, and they requested information on my name, address and phone number. The tower official did not know what it was about, but the request had come from stockton approach, and that he knew that there was an air show in progress. I surmised the rest. My failure to read the NOTAM is clearly the cause of the problem. I wonder though, if there are any additional ways to alert pilots of temporary airspace closures, such as broadcasting on the VOR station, or even shutting it down, if possible. If there was no VOR signal, then I might have investigated. Sometimes in the past I have been alerted to hot restr areas by the radar controller while VFR with radar traffic advisories. Recently it is getting more difficult to get this service due to traffic staffing. I didn't even try today.
