Narrative:

We pushed from gate and cleared to taxi to runway 35R via M/29/D. Once we were number one for departure and holding short of 35R with parking brake set; ATC cleared an aircraft behind us to 'line up and wait.' this is where it gets interesting; the aircraft behind us started moving towards the runway. I believed they were going to perform a 180 to take off on an intersection. I never would have dreamed that the intent was to use our part of the taxi as we took up almost the entire taxiway. [The other aircraft] continued towards the runway maneuvering towards the far left of the taxiway. In fact; their left main was now outside the boundary of the taxiway.at this point the first officer and I were in disbelief and believed they would inform the tower they were not able to continue to the runway. However; they continued at a brisk rate with their left wing (over half) traveling under our wing. By this time they were past us and too late to verbalize the incredible bad judgment call by the pilot. The whole time we really believed they would not continue to the runway. ATC was not aware they were not number one for takeoff and apologized to us for the mistake; we responded with; 'we watched the whole thing unfold (disbelief).' the entire event unfolded while we were stationary with brakes set.
