Narrative:

I was assigned on position during a skill check. I was watching a front line manager (flm) watch another flm. This is new to our facility. The supervisors used to sign on position during skill checks but now we have a new supervisor who has people sign on and he watches. The event occurred between the E145 and K35R. The K35R circled and the E145 was on a visual behind the heavy and might have had less than appropriate separation for wake turbulence. I was unsure what I was supposed to say. This procedure is new and the supervisor wasn't saying anything so I thought maybe I was missing something and shouldn't have said anything.in my honest opinion; having the supervisor sign on position; or having a more clearly defined procedure would be helpful in clearly defining our roles in this new way of skill checking.
