Narrative:

On 8/sun/89, ny aircraft departed gcn for its next destination. Upon arriving at my destination airport, a pilot from another plane advised that an aircraft, similar to the one I was flying, traversed controled airspace over the grand canyon. A review of the WAC charts failed to disclose any restr airspace in the region my aircraft flew. If there is in fact a restr or controled airspace region over the grand canyon area, it should be depicted on the WAC chart. It is not. To date, despite notice from the other pilot, there is no evidence available to convince me that any violation occurred. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: this was a tourist trip of the west. His passenger is a CFI and they planned very carefully and checked for all special use airspace in planning. Found nothing on WAC chart re: the area in question. Also had INS charts which show nothing. Went into lobby to pay for fuel and saw nothing relating to area. NOTAMS gave no information. Since this is a tourist area, reporter surprised tower didn't say anything, only asked direction of flight. He was extremely upset at such an allegation and showed accusing pilot the chart. Has never had a violation in 20 yrs of flying.

Title: SMA PLT DEPARTS GCN WITH WAC CHART WHICH DOES NOT INDICATE SPECIAL FLT RULES AREA. ACCUSED BY ANOTHER PLT OF VIOLATING AIRSPACE.

Narrative: ON 8/SUN/89, NY ACFT DEPARTED GCN FOR ITS NEXT DEST. UPON ARRIVING AT MY DEST ARPT, A PLT FROM ANOTHER PLANE ADVISED THAT AN ACFT, SIMILAR TO THE ONE I WAS FLYING, TRAVERSED CTLED AIRSPACE OVER THE GRAND CANYON. A REVIEW OF THE WAC CHARTS FAILED TO DISCLOSE ANY RESTR AIRSPACE IN THE REGION MY ACFT FLEW. IF THERE IS IN FACT A RESTR OR CTLED AIRSPACE REGION OVER THE GRAND CANYON AREA, IT SHOULD BE DEPICTED ON THE WAC CHART. IT IS NOT. TO DATE, DESPITE NOTICE FROM THE OTHER PLT, THERE IS NO EVIDENCE AVAILABLE TO CONVINCE ME THAT ANY VIOLATION OCCURRED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: THIS WAS A TOURIST TRIP OF THE WEST. HIS PAX IS A CFI AND THEY PLANNED VERY CAREFULLY AND CHKED FOR ALL SPECIAL USE AIRSPACE IN PLANNING. FOUND NOTHING ON WAC CHART RE: THE AREA IN QUESTION. ALSO HAD INS CHARTS WHICH SHOW NOTHING. WENT INTO LOBBY TO PAY FOR FUEL AND SAW NOTHING RELATING TO AREA. NOTAMS GAVE NO INFO. SINCE THIS IS A TOURIST AREA, RPTR SURPRISED TWR DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING, ONLY ASKED DIRECTION OF FLT. HE WAS EXTREMELY UPSET AT SUCH AN ALLEGATION AND SHOWED ACCUSING PLT THE CHART. HAS NEVER HAD A VIOLATION IN 20 YRS OF FLYING.
