Narrative:
I was given taxi instructions by midway ground (mdw) by route of txwys- e-w-F. I did not have an airport diagram. At this point I should have notified ground to that fact since this was my first time out of mdw. I proceeded to the nearest taxiway I told ewf cross runway 21R. As I was going, I was looking for runway 21R. At this time, ground said to cross runway 21R-21L. Now its getting more difficult to know where it is I'm to be going. At midway from what I could see it appears runways, txwys all intersect at one place and marking are not good. I was told to taxi to runway 31L by e-w-F to cross runway 21R then runway 21L. I just should have told ground I give up. In trying to locate a proper taxiway at airport where everything comes together at one place, it's easy to be somewhere other than where you're suppose to be. I overshot my taxiway, I knew not to pull onto runway 31L but where I was runway 31L and runway 21L intersect including the taxiway I was on. Lucky for me ground was keeping an eye on my progress and instructed me to stop, which I did. I was just about to taxi onto runway 31L from the wrong taxiway; there was a jet departing runway 31L. I believe I would have noticed the jet and stopped but I'm glad a ground controller was keeping watch over me. Ground told me to do a 180 degree turn on the taxiway I was on. After doing this, I noticed a very weakly painted hold line. I contribute these problems as my fault. I carry updated charts but could not find (mdw) airport diagram. Next I should have asked ground for help.

Title: UNAUTH TAXI FOR CPR SMT WITHOUT ARPT CHART AT MDW.
Narrative: I WAS GIVEN TAXI INSTRUCTIONS BY MIDWAY GND (MDW) BY RTE OF TXWYS- E-W-F. I DID NOT HAVE AN ARPT DIAGRAM. AT THIS POINT I SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED GND TO THAT FACT SINCE THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME OUT OF MDW. I PROCEEDED TO THE NEAREST TXWY I TOLD EWF CROSS RWY 21R. AS I WAS GOING, I WAS LOOKING FOR RWY 21R. AT THIS TIME, GND SAID TO CROSS RWY 21R-21L. NOW ITS GETTING MORE DIFFICULT TO KNOW WHERE IT IS I'M TO BE GOING. AT MIDWAY FROM WHAT I COULD SEE IT APPEARS RWYS, TXWYS ALL INTERSECT AT ONE PLACE AND MARKING ARE NOT GOOD. I WAS TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 31L BY E-W-F TO CROSS RWY 21R THEN RWY 21L. I JUST SHOULD HAVE TOLD GND I GIVE UP. IN TRYING TO LOCATE A PROPER TXWY AT ARPT WHERE EVERYTHING COMES TOGETHER AT ONE PLACE, IT'S EASY TO BE SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN WHERE YOU'RE SUPPOSE TO BE. I OVERSHOT MY TXWY, I KNEW NOT TO PULL ONTO RWY 31L BUT WHERE I WAS RWY 31L AND RWY 21L INTERSECT INCLUDING THE TXWY I WAS ON. LUCKY FOR ME GND WAS KEEPING AN EYE ON MY PROGRESS AND INSTRUCTED ME TO STOP, WHICH I DID. I WAS JUST ABOUT TO TAXI ONTO RWY 31L FROM THE WRONG TXWY; THERE WAS A JET DEPARTING RWY 31L. I BELIEVE I WOULD HAVE NOTICED THE JET AND STOPPED BUT I'M GLAD A GND CTLR WAS KEEPING WATCH OVER ME. GND TOLD ME TO DO A 180 DEG TURN ON THE TXWY I WAS ON. AFTER DOING THIS, I NOTICED A VERY WEAKLY PAINTED HOLD LINE. I CONTRIBUTE THESE PROBS AS MY FAULT. I CARRY UPDATED CHARTS BUT COULD NOT FIND (MDW) ARPT DIAGRAM. NEXT I SHOULD HAVE ASKED GND FOR HELP.
