Narrative:
Controller cleared us for takeoff. My student proceeded to taxi out onto runway. Just after we crossed the hold lines the CFI stopped the aircraft and noted that an aircraft was on a short final less than 1/4 mi. CFI contacted the tower. The tower apologized and told me to hold position and the other aircraft landed west/O incident.

Title: SMA CLEARED FOR TKOF WITH AN ACFT ON SHORT FINAL. SMA CROSSED HOLD LINE, THEN STOPPED FOR LNDG.
Narrative: CTLR CLRED US FOR TKOF. MY STUDENT PROCEEDED TO TAXI OUT ONTO RWY. JUST AFTER WE CROSSED THE HOLD LINES THE CFI STOPPED THE ACFT AND NOTED THAT AN ACFT WAS ON A SHORT FINAL LESS THAN 1/4 MI. CFI CONTACTED THE TWR. THE TWR APOLOGIZED AND TOLD ME TO HOLD POS AND THE OTHER ACFT LANDED W/O INCIDENT.
