Narrative:

At sfo; the ATIS says to have performance numbers ready for both parallel runways. Depending on arrival traffic spacing; ATC often assigns a last-minute runway change for departure. This worked well in the past and it expedited traffic. Now that we are required to re-read the before takeoff checklist in its entirety after programming a runway change; any potential time saved by issuing a last-minute runway change is likely lost because we won't be ready to depart for several minutes. Can you please share our new 'read the entire checklist again' policy with the fine folks at the tower? They need to know about our policy so they can plan accordingly and don't just think we're being obstinate. Thanks.
