Narrative:
Lost HSI, connector plug came off in flight. Believe to have been knocked loose during recent maintenance on other equipment behind the INS panel. With the loss of heading information, #1 VOR and ILS, the decision was made to land on a taxiway while the runway was closed for maintenance. It is suggested that connectors on INS should have a more positive lock. I also lost a turn indicator in flight on an small aircraft last yr with this same problem.
