Narrative:

After departure during climb received ECAM hot brake number 6 wheel. Leveled at FL250; slowed below gear speed. Temperature went from 300 degrees [to] 320 degrees by the time we were slow enough to [extend] gear down to cool. Diverted to [an appropriate alternate]. Number 6 [brake] indicated 0 degrees [on] approach. On roll out with no brake use number 6 temp eventually reached 395 degrees. Aircraft was towed into the gate. We did not declare an emergency with ATC but it appears that someone did for us. We did ask ATC to have equipment standing by on landing to check for any hot brakes or possible fire. No fire was found.
