Narrative:
Cdl 57-30-xx was applied on (date) for missing/bent vortex generators. I looked up the reference number and it indicated a performance decrement if a certain number was missing. I called dispatch to verify this since I noticed no indication of extra fuel or performance penalty on the release. I also sent the first officer to look at the condition of the release and departed. Upon landing; we consulted further with dispatch/maintenance and realized a vortilon was bent rather than a missing vortex generator. The correct cdl 57-41-xx was applied for subsequent flights.had I more thoroughly examined the aircraft condition in relation to the applied cdl I would have realized an originally misapplied cdl.
