Narrative:

My instrument and I were doing full stop taxi backs in an small aircraft X. There was a cpr light transport Y jet inbound to the field. At the end of our landing roll on runway 22, the tower instructed us to make a right turn taxi-back, hold short runway 33. As we taxied back the instrument was giving me landing instructions using his hands to illustrate. Both pilots attention was inside the aircraft, concentrating on the conversation. Almost simultaneously I realized we were to hold short and braked hard. The tower called out 'hold short' and told the cpr light transport Y to go around. The instrument took control and taxied across runway 33. There was no accident or damage. This seemed to be a chain of events. The attention of myself and the instrument was not on operating the aircraft was as necessary. The discussion on landing should have waited for the aircraft to be at rest. I was concerned about the amount of conversation in the aircraft but said nothing. I was feeling rested but apprehensive about the lesson because of the speed and amount of new work in small aircraft X. Supplemental information from acn 149496: we were engaged in student-instrument conversations and student was the manipulator of the controls. Student did not stop at the hold short line. We were just past the hold line, student was braking, but I felt we were too far toward the runway for that size aircraft on final. I pwred the students feet off using my authority as instrument and accelerated across the runway.

Title: TAXIING SMA CROSSES RWY HOLD LINE RESULTING IN CONFLICT WITH CPR LTT Y JET ON APCH.

Narrative: MY INSTR AND I WERE DOING FULL STOP TAXI BACKS IN AN SMA X. THERE WAS A CPR LTT Y JET INBND TO THE FIELD. AT THE END OF OUR LNDG ROLL ON RWY 22, THE TWR INSTRUCTED US TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN TAXI-BACK, HOLD SHORT RWY 33. AS WE TAXIED BACK THE INSTR WAS GIVING ME LNDG INSTRUCTIONS USING HIS HANDS TO ILLUSTRATE. BOTH PLTS ATTN WAS INSIDE THE ACFT, CONCENTRATING ON THE CONVERSATION. ALMOST SIMULTANEOUSLY I REALIZED WE WERE TO HOLD SHORT AND BRAKED HARD. THE TWR CALLED OUT 'HOLD SHORT' AND TOLD THE CPR LTT Y TO GO AROUND. THE INSTR TOOK CTL AND TAXIED ACROSS RWY 33. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR DAMAGE. THIS SEEMED TO BE A CHAIN OF EVENTS. THE ATTN OF MYSELF AND THE INSTR WAS NOT ON OPERATING THE ACFT WAS AS NECESSARY. THE DISCUSSION ON LNDG SHOULD HAVE WAITED FOR THE ACFT TO BE AT REST. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF CONVERSATION IN THE ACFT BUT SAID NOTHING. I WAS FEELING RESTED BUT APPREHENSIVE ABOUT THE LESSON BECAUSE OF THE SPD AND AMOUNT OF NEW WORK IN SMA X. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 149496: WE WERE ENGAGED IN STUDENT-INSTR CONVERSATIONS AND STUDENT WAS THE MANIPULATOR OF THE CTLS. STUDENT DID NOT STOP AT THE HOLD SHORT LINE. WE WERE JUST PAST THE HOLD LINE, STUDENT WAS BRAKING, BUT I FELT WE WERE TOO FAR TOWARD THE RWY FOR THAT SIZE ACFT ON FINAL. I PWRED THE STUDENTS FEET OFF USING MY AUTHORITY AS INSTR AND ACCELERATED ACROSS THE RWY.
