Narrative:

Light transport flying at FL430 over known WX. WX radar was not showing any adverse WX directly in front of us. At time of flight we were between 2000-3000' above the overcast. From below a thunderstorm grew and lightning hit us from below (lightning strike was on nose of aircraft). Simultaneously we encountered severe turbulence and updrafts and the right engine flamed out. I believe we lost some electrical and radio equipment if not all for a short period. Captain's altimeter rose to just short of 45000' with a down deck angel of 8-10 degrees pitch. Right engine was secured. Crew went on O2 and emergency descent was performed to FL240. I don't know if ZID controller received our initial call of engine flame-out and we were descending to FL240. 2-3 mils later I do know we had satisfactory communication and descent was approved and a radio handoff was made to ZOB. Once at FL240 engine relight was made. All radio and electrical was restored. Flight continued to airport of destination. No other problems, no engine damage sustained.

Title: LIGHTNING STRIKE AT FL430 CAUSES ENGINE FLAEOUT ON A CPR LTT. EMERGENCY COORD WITH ZID AND ENGINE RESTORED AFTER LEVEL AT FL240.

Narrative: LTT FLYING AT FL430 OVER KNOWN WX. WX RADAR WAS NOT SHOWING ANY ADVERSE WX DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF US. AT TIME OF FLT WE WERE BTWN 2000-3000' ABOVE THE OVCST. FROM BELOW A TSTM GREW AND LIGHTNING HIT US FROM BELOW (LIGHTNING STRIKE WAS ON NOSE OF ACFT). SIMULTANEOUSLY WE ENCOUNTERED SEVERE TURB AND UPDRAFTS AND THE RIGHT ENG FLAMED OUT. I BELIEVE WE LOST SOME ELECTRICAL AND RADIO EQUIP IF NOT ALL FOR A SHORT PERIOD. CAPT'S ALTIMETER ROSE TO JUST SHORT OF 45000' WITH A DOWN DECK ANGEL OF 8-10 DEGS PITCH. RIGHT ENG WAS SECURED. CREW WENT ON O2 AND EMER DSNT WAS PERFORMED TO FL240. I DON'T KNOW IF ZID CTLR RECEIVED OUR INITIAL CALL OF ENG FLAME-OUT AND WE WERE DSNDING TO FL240. 2-3 MILS LATER I DO KNOW WE HAD SATISFACTORY COM AND DSNT WAS APPROVED AND A RADIO HDOF WAS MADE TO ZOB. ONCE AT FL240 ENG RELIGHT WAS MADE. ALL RADIO AND ELECTRICAL WAS RESTORED. FLT CONTINUED TO ARPT OF DEST. NO OTHER PROBS, NO ENG DAMAGE SUSTAINED.
