Narrative:
While working sector #3 (data side) in heavy traffic, my r-man (radar side) inadvertently dropped an IFR data block and flight plan. (The radar controller thought he had dropped a VFR he was terminating)! Some 2 hours later, after the radar controller had gone home on sick leave, I supervisor approached me about this incident. Apparently, aircraft X had called ZOA near rom requesting a lower altitude (obviously no handoffs were made)!
