Narrative:
Just after takeoff I momentarily retarded the mixture control partially and inadvertently, causing me to believe for a moment that the engine was failing. I announced 'mayday, mayday' and turned back to the airport before I corrected the problem and continued the flight.

Title: GA SMA PLT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO FAIL DURING CLIMB OUT FROM PDK.
Narrative: JUST AFTER TKOF I MOMENTARILY RETARDED THE MIXTURE CTL PARTIALLY AND INADVERTENTLY, CAUSING ME TO BELIEVE FOR A MOMENT THAT THE ENG WAS FAILING. I ANNOUNCED 'MAYDAY, MAYDAY' AND TURNED BACK TO THE ARPT BEFORE I CORRECTED THE PROB AND CONTINUED THE FLT.
