Narrative:

After landing on runway 28R at sfo, the tower asked us to make the high speed turn-off (T) and hold short of runway 28L, and remain on his frequency. The current ATIS said taxiway 'D' between runway 28L and right was closed (highspd taxi 'T' intersects 'D'). Runway 28R and runway 28L are close together at sfo and therefore the highspd exit is not very long. We stopped about 15' short of runway 28L. We did not notice the normal 'hold line' nor was there any flashing yellow lights at runway 28L (as common at many airports) also the closure of taxiway 'D' (which included barricades) diverts attention as it intersects the highspd exit. I think it would be ery easy for a pilot to either taxi onto or cross runway 28L west/O knowing it and create a potential accident. Better airport markings and flashing runway lights might prevent this problem.

Title: PLT MISSED HOLD BAR LINE ON TXWY AND STOPPED FIFTEEN SHORT OF AN ACTIVE RWY.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 28R AT SFO, THE TWR ASKED US TO MAKE THE HIGH SPD TURN-OFF (T) AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 28L, AND REMAIN ON HIS FREQ. THE CURRENT ATIS SAID TXWY 'D' BTWN RWY 28L AND R WAS CLOSED (HIGHSPD TAXI 'T' INTERSECTS 'D'). RWY 28R AND RWY 28L ARE CLOSE TOGETHER AT SFO AND THEREFORE THE HIGHSPD EXIT IS NOT VERY LONG. WE STOPPED ABOUT 15' SHORT OF RWY 28L. WE DID NOT NOTICE THE NORMAL 'HOLD LINE' NOR WAS THERE ANY FLASHING YELLOW LIGHTS AT RWY 28L (AS COMMON AT MANY ARPTS) ALSO THE CLOSURE OF TXWY 'D' (WHICH INCLUDED BARRICADES) DIVERTS ATTN AS IT INTERSECTS THE HIGHSPD EXIT. I THINK IT WOULD BE ERY EASY FOR A PLT TO EITHER TAXI ONTO OR CROSS RWY 28L W/O KNOWING IT AND CREATE A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT. BETTER ARPT MARKINGS AND FLASHING RWY LIGHTS MIGHT PREVENT THIS PROB.
