Narrative:

Upon takeoff the aircraft failed to pressurize. The outflow valve was fully closed and both packs had normal pressure. Returned for a normal landing. Mechanics discovered that the air stair door was not fully closed. There was no indication of this in the cockpit wince the annunciator light is hooked up to the latching handle and in no way reflects the actual position of the door. Suggest visual inspection of the door by ground crew when air stairs are used.
