Narrative:
During flight; I was trying to look at the map on the ipad to get info and while trying to close in on the area; it froze up and I could not change the picture to get the information I wanted. Also after landing; my ipad does not switch to the taxi diagram even though it is selected and this time it had timed out so when I was given complicated taxi directions after getting clear of the runway; my ipad wasn't available and I had to rely totally on the first officer's for directions.
