Narrative:
An medium large transport northbound on J89 at FL310 descending to FL290. An small transport Z westbound J134 at FL280. I knew the medium large transport needed descent into mdw. I looked at another medium large transport Y at FL280 and gave the medium large transport X a clearance to FL280. Medium large transport X and the small transport Z passed with 3.5 mi and 500' sep. Neither aircraft saw the other aircraft.
