Narrative:

Problem arose because of high density traffic for tower controller to handle. I was cleared to land behind a single engine small aircraft. At 1/2 mi final, as small aircraft passed mid point turn off, tower advised me to go around, I did. Tower also advised me to keep pattern tight for next landing. I did. At least two or three other aircraft entering air traffic area for landing. I was sequenced in to land ahead of a police aircraft. Controller was talking extremely fast to all aircraft. I sensed the aircraft behind me was close as I made my landing. I attempted to stop by mid field (where turn off was) but could not. I went 100-200' past mid field and made a quick 180 degree turn and was off of runway as aircraft behind me was 100' above runway for landing. The tower controller was 'talking nonstop' and didn't allow time for me to break in to ask if I should make a 180 degree turn. I was only trying to help. I could have continued down the runway to the end and forced the plane behind me to go around, (which I guess is what I should have done) but I made the 180 degree turn, pulled off and waited 20-30 seconds for tower controller to tell me to go to ground. He was too busy, so I switched to ground, told them I was off of active runway and where I wanted to go. Ground controller told me that I should never make a 180 degree turn on runway west/O towers permission. I said ok and taxied to parking. 3 days later as I landed at lancaster general fox again, tower controller told me to make a 180 degree on the runway to exit. I believe that has happened before, which is why I did it. I was only trying to help. I will not turn back west/O direction next time. Controller needs to space aircraft better. I know it's a training facility. Maybe trnee got situation in a mess, then experienced controller took over telling pilots what to do, but not allowing response time for pilots?

Title: GA SMA MADE 180 DEG ON THE RWY AFTER LNDG TO CLRAR THE RWY SO ACFT IN TRAIL WOULD NOT HAVE TO GO AROUND.

Narrative: PROB AROSE BECAUSE OF HIGH DENSITY TFC FOR TWR CTLR TO HANDLE. I WAS CLRED TO LAND BEHIND A SINGLE ENG SMA. AT 1/2 MI FINAL, AS SMA PASSED MID POINT TURN OFF, TWR ADVISED ME TO GO AROUND, I DID. TWR ALSO ADVISED ME TO KEEP PATTERN TIGHT FOR NEXT LNDG. I DID. AT LEAST TWO OR THREE OTHER ACFT ENTERING ATA FOR LNDG. I WAS SEQUENCED IN TO LAND AHEAD OF A POLICE ACFT. CTLR WAS TALKING EXTREMELY FAST TO ALL ACFT. I SENSED THE ACFT BEHIND ME WAS CLOSE AS I MADE MY LNDG. I ATTEMPTED TO STOP BY MID FIELD (WHERE TURN OFF WAS) BUT COULD NOT. I WENT 100-200' PAST MID FIELD AND MADE A QUICK 180 DEG TURN AND WAS OFF OF RWY AS ACFT BEHIND ME WAS 100' ABOVE RWY FOR LNDG. THE TWR CTLR WAS 'TALKING NONSTOP' AND DIDN'T ALLOW TIME FOR ME TO BREAK IN TO ASK IF I SHOULD MAKE A 180 DEG TURN. I WAS ONLY TRYING TO HELP. I COULD HAVE CONTINUED DOWN THE RWY TO THE END AND FORCED THE PLANE BEHIND ME TO GO AROUND, (WHICH I GUESS IS WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE) BUT I MADE THE 180 DEG TURN, PULLED OFF AND WAITED 20-30 SECS FOR TWR CTLR TO TELL ME TO GO TO GND. HE WAS TOO BUSY, SO I SWITCHED TO GND, TOLD THEM I WAS OFF OF ACTIVE RWY AND WHERE I WANTED TO GO. GND CTLR TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD NEVER MAKE A 180 DEG TURN ON RWY W/O TWRS PERMISSION. I SAID OK AND TAXIED TO PARKING. 3 DAYS LATER AS I LANDED AT LANCASTER GENERAL FOX AGAIN, TWR CTLR TOLD ME TO MAKE A 180 DEG ON THE RWY TO EXIT. I BELIEVE THAT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, WHICH IS WHY I DID IT. I WAS ONLY TRYING TO HELP. I WILL NOT TURN BACK W/O DIRECTION NEXT TIME. CTLR NEEDS TO SPACE ACFT BETTER. I KNOW IT'S A TRNING FAC. MAYBE TRNEE GOT SITUATION IN A MESS, THEN EXPERIENCED CTLR TOOK OVER TELLING PLTS WHAT TO DO, BUT NOT ALLOWING RESPONSE TIME FOR PLTS?
