Narrative:

Cleared to FL260, heard pilots make required calls prior to altitude intercept. Passed FL260 and leveled late just below FL270, then descended back down to FL260. ATC cleared us to FL270 as we leveled at FL260. I had my attention focused on looking up optimum power settings...etc. Autoplt was engaged but automatic capture mode was not available.

Narrative: CLRED TO FL260, HEARD PLTS MAKE REQUIRED CALLS PRIOR TO ALT INTERCEPT. PASSED FL260 AND LEVELED LATE JUST BELOW FL270, THEN DSNDED BACK DOWN TO FL260. ATC CLRED US TO FL270 AS WE LEVELED AT FL260. I HAD MY ATTN FOCUSED ON LOOKING UP OPTIMUM PWR SETTINGS...ETC. AUTOPLT WAS ENGAGED BUT AUTO CAPTURE MODE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
