On take off at 500 AGL cylinder # 5 and 6 cht went red with harsh engine roughness and loss of 40% power. Instructor pilot initiated [ATC] call and made right turn for [runway]. ATC tower gave clearance to land. Aircraft was able to taxi to ramp.
