Narrative:

Called airport in sight; cleared visual 16L. ATC pointed out traffic on 16R; I responded 'looking'. Established on 16L final (slightly left of course due to traffic) got TCAS TA. Saw traffic and selected TA only. Immediately got TCAS descent RA. Followed RA all the way down to 6400'; then got clear of conflict. Configured on profile and stable continued visual approach to safe landing. I'm concerned at the length of the RA. I'm not convinced the regional jet on 16R received an RA as well; and if they did; I'm wondering if they followed it. We were left of centerline; so I'm assuming they had to be well left of centerline also. This only worked out as well as it did since we were vmc. I have heard plenty of stories about TCAS ras on the 16s in den.

Original NASA ASRS Text

Title: Air carrier Captain reported they experienced a Resolution Advisory on approach to a parallel runway at DEN and expressed concern about the length of the RA and the amount of the altitude loss required to resolve the RA. Captain recommends reevaluating the practice of non-staggered approaches to parallel runways at DEN.
