Narrative:

We were given line up and wait runway 01L sfo instructions. We did so at full length which is via taxiwaymike1. While holding in position sfo tower cleared a B777 to cross runway 01L on mike. As the B777 began their taxi it became obvious to us that there was not enough room and that their right wing may come in contact with our airplane or at a minimum pass over our fuselage. We flashed all exterior lights and broadcasted on tower frequency for them to stop which they did approximately 1/4 on to runway 01L. Sfo tower asked what was going on; we informed her that we were in position on runway 01L. Her response was 'I know'. We told her they're going to hit us. Tower said they'd get a tug out to take care of the situation. The B777 crew then asked tower if we could visually clear them; they'd continue. Tower; now very sarcastically said that's between you two. We weren't going to do that so tower sent out an operations truck to survey the situation so 'everyone could get all warm and fuzzy'. Tower asked the operations truck if [the 777] could cross runway 01L via 'mike'; without its wing passing over us. They replied 'negative'. So the operations truck guided the B777 across by having him partially taxi on to runway 01L then off at 'mike'; assuring clearance for both airplanes. We thanked the operations driver and departed without further incident. We found the sfo tower controller to be condescending and unprofessional throughout this incident.
