Narrative:

Turning right base for the night visual to runway 6 we received an alert from ATC advising us that we were low. We were at 1100 ft and stopped descending and our instruments showed us turning onto localizer slightly above glide slope. We acknowledge the event and waited to get further onto localizer before descending anymore.

Title: Air Carrier flight crew reported being issued an altitude alert while on a night visual approach to Runway 6 at ISP. The crew was on right base at the time and 4 to 5 nm from the runway. The aircraft is leveled until the final approach course is intercepted.
