Narrative:

On downwind leg at 11;000 ft I was the pilot flying and we were cleared for the [RNAV rnp approach]. Simultaneously upon calling for and the pilot monitoring selecting flaps 5 we received a wheel well fire warning and indication. I took control of the aircraft and radios while leaving the autopilot engaged and called for the wheel well fire QRH. The captain ran the QRH as directed and the fire indication did not go out upon extending the gear. We [advised ATC] and continued the approach as we were on the RF leg and next for the runway. We requested the fire trucks to be standing by for aircraft inspection upon landing. The flight attendants and passengers were briefed upon what to expect on arrival. The landing was uneventful and routine. Upon touchdown the wheel well fire indication went out. We cleared the runway at high speed [taxiway] and stopped so fire/rescue could determine the state of our aircraft. Fire/rescue reported no fire or smoke coming from the main wheel well but did report an escalated infrared temperature from the right main gear. After calling the flight attendants and advising the passengers with updates to our situation we determined it was safe to taxi into our gate and have fire/rescue follow us into the gate. Upon flap retraction we received an intermittent wheel well fire indication and fire bell. The wheel well fire bell and indication was also intermittent at the gate upon parking and shutdown. The parking and arrival was uneventful and passengers deplaned through door 1L via the jet way.
