Narrative:

During max climb (mcl) passing through 8000 feet; #2 propeller overspeed to approximately 1280 rpm. First officer was pilot flying and captain was monitoring; upon confirmation of #2 propeller overspeed we conducted an engine failure SOP by moving condition levers to max and setting power; later we conducted the east and a checklist and requested 13000 feet as our final altitude however we decided to level off at 11000 feet. The east and a checklist guided us to feather the faulty propeller; but the propeller didn`t; after the selection of #2 alt feather; prop RPM gauge was still indicating 470 RPM. The checklist specifies to not shut down the engine and continue with both engines operating. Upon completing the checklist; we contacted dispatch; and made the decision to continue to [destination airport]; after this we talked to the passengers as well as with ATC; we did not [advise ATC of] emergency [situation] and continue with the checklist. Landing was normal; with emergency crews on standby; the aircraft was able to continue to parking gate with no problems; however; the #2 engine did not shut down by using normal procedures; we attempted two times by using normal procedures and at the third attempt we used the #2 t-handle and the engine successfully shut down. Passengers and crew disembarked normally and post flight inspection was conducted with no extra abnormalities.
