Narrative:

Aircraft was written up on inbound leg as follows: defect: no ACARS or cpdlc communicationaction: clear-no existing message for ACARS in current flight deck effects.all communications normal until we were unable to log onto cpdlc with moncton. We then gradually lost ACARS capability as we approached our coast out fix. We queried ATC and was advised no ads. Time critical as we approached coast out fix elsir. Fix discovered through flight manual bulletin concerning the X satlink system. After deactivating the X satlink and then logging onto Y satcom; all communication systems returned to normal ops.

Title: B777 Captain reported being unable to log onto CPDLC enroute. They discovered the fix and corrected the condition by deactivating Satlink and logging into the a different system.
